Internship Matching Program

Hollywood Animal Hospital is offering six general internships plus one surgical intership to qualified candidates who wish to participate in a busy general medical/surgical practice that acts as a referral center for difficult orthopedic, general surgical and medical cases in South Florida. Our staff consists of seventeen veterinarians, of whom six are general interns and one is a surgical intern, with approximately 100 additional support personnel. One doctor is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, while four others are diplomats of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Additionally, a member of the American College of Veterinary Radiologists evaluates all radiographs as requested by practice team members in a very timely manner and provides additional expertise.

The hospital provides equipment consistent with its efforts as a referral center including a complete line of Synthes bone plating equipment, nitrogen-driven drills, saws and pin drivers as well as external fixators. Isoflurane and Sevoflurane are used at our twelve anesthesia stations. Surgical monitoring is provided with oscilloscopes, respiratory monitors, and pulse oximetry. We have three operating suites, with a total of six tables are available as well as a dental operatory with dental radiography. Other radiographic capabilities are provided with two 600MA, 125Kvp units and automatic processing. Routine chemistries and hemograms are performed in-house utilizing a Chiron Spectrophotometer. A dry chemistry unit is avalable for after-hours or STAT chemistries along with an I-STAT Heska unit for blood gases. Arthroscopoic, endoscopic and bronchoscopic equipment is available as well as ultrasound capabilities. Finally, we have recently incorporated a Luxar carbon dioxide laser for our surgical department.

Florida licensure is required. The applicant is to have registered to complete the Florida licensure requirements in the spring.
